You made what was essentially a joke. "FUCK WE LOST THE WHOLESOME SIGN GUY /srs" still sounds like a god damn JOKE because you didn't actually console him. Even if you say you weren't meaning it to be a joke... It came off as one. I've been in this situation before (consoling isn't exactly my strong suit 93% of the time), and I had poor wording that made it sound like i didn't truely care. I'm giving you a heads up.
