So, I tried the launcher and it worked well for me. It asked me which executable I want to run (the game itself, or the setup) and then I could just play. If it still gives you trouble, maybe try changing some of the options in winsetup (resolution, etc.).

Also, I've just updated the game, so maybe this version will work for you?
