Played the demo and loved it, can't wait for the full release

Art is solid, very well done

Gameplay is excellent, love the addition of the aftercare even if it's not something I personally use

I like that you can choose your pronouns and genitalia preference, although it would be handy if there was a they/them options for some. It would also be great to be able to choose whether  you have breasts or not, but that would probably require a lot of rewriting of code and isn't of the highest importance to me

My only issue is with some of the sound. Although I love the ambience and music, the voice lines take me out of it a bit and when I tried to turn down the voice volume, it didn't work. All the audio - music, sound and voice - all are connected to the Sounds volume bar and some I can't turn down one without turning the rest down

Other than that, excellent and competently made game, patiently awaiting the rest

RIGHT! That was suppose to make it to my TODO list thank you! (The audio part that is)

I'd like to put a they/them option in there but I don't know if that would work, as some sentences might have to have a prompt. I would love for someone more knowledgeable on pronouns to help educate me on how "they" works in most sentences. I would happily add it if I just knew more so I could make it work.

The complication is if I have a line like this:
"No, [he]'s got a point there."
Then it's going to replace the [he] with [they]:
"No, [they]'s got a point there."

And I don't know enough about pronouns but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

I see your issue and I understand. Obviously I don't know what method you're using in coding for the different pronouns, but I'm just assuming you've done it so that it will opt in whichever option the player chooses rather than rewriting the entire script just with different pronouns. If you're doing it like that, you're right,  just putting in they/them wouldn't work, you would have to make a different sentence structure. Using your example;

"No, they've got a point there."

I imagine that would require a lot of rewriting and fiddly coding and whatnot so I can completely see how that would just be too tasking, but I do appreciate that you at least looked into it, or even have a pronoun option at all.

If ever in the future you want try going for more pronoun options, the dating sim "Dial Town" would be a good example of an expansive pronoun option, it has standard options (He/She/They), but also has a completely customizable option, where the player can use anything as pronouns. You have to jump through some hoops because it means writing each pronoun for each context and whether it's plural etc etc, but I personally found it neat. (If you do look into it, the game is rather weird, but the pronoun thing is solid). I have no clue if the dev is using the same game engine as you, so I don't know if the code would even be transferable, so perhaps it would be useless to you.

I'd be happy to tell you about how they/them pronouns work, although not an expert (I'm also dyslexic, my ability at grammar may not be the most reliable) I just have some friends who use they/them and have thus had to adjust my language to accommodate that

Sorry for the essay and thank you for your original response

No no no THANK YOU for the essay!!! Very informative and I love being able to talk about these things!

That's right they may be using a different engine, I honestly hadn't thought about that lol. I could do line by line but Love Lock is currently about 200,000 words long... that's going to be a lot of rewritten statements :S So I don't think I've be able to include putting in your own pronoun. Plus... if people put in anything under the sun, how would I structure that grammatically? o.o I have no idea... Though this issue comes in when people put in random names for their name as well. >~<

"They've" ok I had a feeling it was wrong. So yea.. that would be a huge issue. Which sucks cause I do want to give the ( They ) option. It wouldn't require too too much but it I would have to go through and code it line by line instead of plugging it in. Maybe when I'm closer to polishing these things I can go over it.

If you'd like to, I would happily accept that help! I just mostly need a list of the they's in comparison to how they work with he/him. The reason it has to be for he/him is cause:
he/she - went to the store.
him/her - and I blah blah.
his/her - time is up.

her is doubled and I won't know what's what. I ran into this issue months ago, so going with he/him and then converting it works the best. Which even just explaining this I'm seeing minor issues with her. "it's (His/Her)s!" Her is going to need a "s". but it doesn't ALWAYS need a s like "(His/Her) time is up." oof this is frustrating XD lolololololol DAMN YOU ENGLISH!!!! XD

(-1)

That sounds incredibly frustrating, in my coding I just sort of... removed situations where third person pronouns are needed because I am a coward.
I'll try my best to do each context

[He] wants that - [They] want that

That doesn't belong to [him] - That doesn't belong to [them]

[His] friends are over there - [Their] friends are over there

Jess thinks highly of [himself] - Jess thinks highly of [themselves]

[He's] not very chatty - [They're] not very chatty (Present + Future tense)

[He's] done it - [They've] done it (Past tense)

I'm fairly sure this is all correct and don't think I've left out any context, but English is hard so I could be wrong. Hope this helped and good luck with the project, can't wait to see it finished

This is amazing and exactly what I needed! the different of "They+are" and "They+have" That is what I was confused on! Thank you so much!!!

Absolutely no problem, happy to help. Do you have any other places that have updates about this project? Or is it just on here? I saw you have a youtube channel, is that all?

(1 edit)

The Youtube channel is mostly just for the trailer video, but I do have a art video to post on there when I get around to editing it (to make it shorter/faster)

There are two areas I operate out of, Patreon and discord.

On the Patreon I offer the game itself in beta/WIP form, the 1st of each month I post an update of all the things I added the month previously. So everything I've made thus far is playable on Patreon but its still like rough draft, work in progress.

On Discord I show and share things in an announcement channel. I wanted to use a place like tumblr or twitter but I'm not sure how to go about that as content wise it might break the terms of services of these sites. Especially since tumblr has changed and no longer allows nsfw content.

I thought about maybe making a blogger but like lol does anyone even use blogger? and I don't think it's a place people would want to follow so I'm really stumped on where to put these things >~< So far that's why updates are only available on Discord, it's been the only place that feels safe.

Edit: Oh I forgot to add as well, that while I can make dev logs here on itch it's a bit of an awkward process. Like the dev logs are mostly written and they seem like a thing to use for "important" announcements, where as my updatey posts kind of consist of:
"HEY GUYS I DID THIS COOL THING CHECK IT OUT" lol or a "Check out this CG I'm proud of this one"

It doesn't seem very dev log... like... >~<

Sadly I do not have the funds to support you on Patreon at the moment (But if I do come into the money, I definitely will)
I will go search for the discord, thank you!

And by the way Twitter basically lets you post anything, but it can be a pretty toxic enviorment so that's the only reason I'd be against it. Tumblr would be good but you would have to tip toe around the different guidelines. Also, I have never heard of blogger, so I can see why you would be hesitant to make a related account on there.

Weird about the dev log, you'd think it would be easy so the dev could... log their process lol

That's a ok, I don't expect anyone to join Patreon, it was just the method I found to give updates that people were asking for. It's listed above but here's a link as well if you'd like it Discord.

I read up on that, about it being toxic because of a limited amount of characters to describe things and people misunderstanding. Though there may also be other contributing factors to consider towards its toxicity. Knowing my luck I would accidently make a mistake on tumblr and end up banned/kicked or deactivated (whichever method they use) :S

Blogger is like... 2011? lol I used it while in college it was part of the curriculum. It's nice the way the posts are set up as it creates a bit of a timeline. It's closer to having your own website I guess.

I'm sure the dev log works for some, I think it's just me struggling with it. I wish it was in a more blog like format is all. I thought about maybe making my own website through wordpress or something as well, but I really don't know what to do. Discord is working though, eventually when I find the platform I'll take all the posts from discord onto it and create a bit of an archive situation. :3 I'll do that for Keep or Kill as well and all up and coming titles.

Hey there I was brushing up on our they/them conversation we had and saw that previously you were asking once before about other places for updates. Not too long ago I started a site.  https://bondagebunnygames.blogspot.com/

Took a while of debate and then I caved in to Blogger. lol it's there though in case you didn't find it in the page updated info stuff lol

Thank you for this, and the discord link, sorry for disappearing for... jeez, like four years at this point, things got busy and then, well, I just plum forgot. Time for me to go make a blogspot account, or something along those lines, guess I'll go find out now
