Dee returned to the marketplace the following week to pick up the scarf. Virgil's scarf. The shopkeeper presented the finished gift in trembling hands and lowered her head. "I hope it is to your liking, my lord." He smiled as he took the shimmering length of silk from her hands. She’d married together long strips of gold and purple silk with nearly invisible stitches. The seams were smooth and unobtrusive, each panel flowing from one to the other. Tiny, spiraling decorative stitches in gold thread adorned the edges, glimmering and catching the light. Dee removed one glove and pulled the scarf through his hands. It slipped through his fingers like water, cool, smooth, and fluid.

She peeked at his face. "Does it please you?"

".. It is wonderful, you did an excellent job.. and please, I really do insist you just call of me as Dee, there is no need to call me me of Lord.. but thank you, it is.. very well made, every little panel practically fits with one another, the golden thread shining in the sunlight.. it's perfect.

She smiled brightly

"Thank you."

"Of course.. here, please take it.. I understand that it's much over what you asked, but you've done more than you can ever imagine for me.."

He took out yet another pouch, but it was decently bigger than other small ones, noticeable, it was filled with the gold coins, i assume,  he always gave. TvT

DAMN. Anyways...

The shops lining the path to Virgil's storefront were beginning to close, the shopkeepers wrapping up their wares, stacking pots, and lashing down heavy awnings to protect their goods from the elements and from any pilferage in the night.

Dee was dismayed to see that Virgil had already completed his closing tasks, a heavy canvas cover battened down over his stand. Pulling his cloak tighter around himself, he turned away from the storefront. As he did, though, his eye caught sudden movement next to the closed fishmonger’s stand. He spied shifting shadows, three large shapes surrounding a smaller form. Creeping closer, Dee peered around the corner and saw three tall men surrounding the thin shopkeeper, striking him and pulling at his satchel.

-"... Now who is he.. damn assholes, their blocking my view, I should really help them.. but perhaps I should just, wait..-"-

You'd expect him to leave a maybe random person being mugged alone, right? Weeeeell no, if anything he would've either joined them, if the person was a bad one, or beat the shit out of the other! :)

Oh yeah no sorry I don't think I was clear-the person they were attacking was Virgil.

...OKay yeah like why didn't my mind go to that-

REDO-,   Dee was, utterly shocked at the start.. but slowly did a somewhat.. rage build in him, his grip on the scarf tighting as he stared daggers at the three men, before his loud.. taps.. of his shoes we're echoing along the alley way, you could just see the hatred in his eyes, and even if they we're tall.. yeesh, dee was a different level-..... (no pun intended. TwT)

Dee let out an inhuman growl and pounced on the robbers. One looked up and, seeing his bright white fangs glinting in the sunset, ran. The man holding Virgil froze momentarily and jerked his hand against the merchant’s side before he, too, ran, leaving his dagger protruding from Virgil's stomach.

Virgil's mouth opened wide in a silent cry, too pained to even produce sound, and he collapsed. The third man was stunned, still gripping his satchel. He stared down dumbly at Virgil as the merchant curled in a ball on the ground, moaning softly, blood pouring from between his fingers.

(1 edit)

Dee then grabbed the third one by the hair.. repeated.. thuds.. we're heard, every single one of them being worse than the last, the wet sound of bone or.. flesh being torn was Sickening, by the time Dee had thrown aside the person, his face was.. practically gone.. the wall splattered with blood.. But after the rage subsided, pleased with the death of one.. he quickly rushed to Virgil, now worried out of his mind as he lifted him up with his arms, his hand pressing down on the wound for obvious reasons.

"V-Virgil~ A-Are you okay, I-I'm so so sorry, i should've s-stayed with you..!"
