Why are there 4 files/formats?

The original order of the calendar is designed so that the resolution to a given page, is on the back of the previous page.

1x1_rev  has the Resolution pages AFTER the page it refers to

To maintain this order when printing multiple pages per sheet / front to back (to save paper), we are providing  3 different zip files with different formats. All formats are designed so that when you print front and back, the pages align correctly on the backs of their front. The resolution to a given page, is on the back of the previous page.

1x1  for printing each page on its own sheet. (Front, back)
2x1 for printing 2 pages on 1 sheet (Front x2, back x 2)
2x2 for printing 4 pages on 1 sheet (Front x4, back x 4)

To set the # of pages per sheet, you will do this when you go to print.

Change the setting in Adobe by clicking the Multiple button and setting Pages per Sheet to 1x2.

AWESOME!  Thank you so much for all your hard work on this.  Looking forward to the physical copy, but this is a fantastic start for me and the kids to fiddle with in the meantime.  :)

Can you give me a hint at what month/day to look at?
Or is it the entire thing?

2x1 is wrong. January seems ok. But february misses the back of the 1st. March the 1st page is not right. It's not possible to print with the correct sides matching.

Developer

This is the setting I am using in Adobe Acrobat Reader for the 2x1 files. You need to flip the numbers here otherwise it will put them side by side instead of 1 on top of the other.

Can you let me know how you are printing? It seems to line up correctly for me on both months if I use the above setting.

For Feb, the back of the Feb 1st is the 3rd page (that describes how characters level up). It should line up correctly.

Thank you for your response. But when i look at the 1x1 the back is not the same for february 1st.

It shows what will happen when demand to be paid or not. On the 1x2 it's the Level Up.

That is because "Demand to be paid" is the resolution to Feb 1st, and thus appears on the back of Jan 31st. In the 2x1 files, it is the last page in the Jan pdf so it can be printed on the back of that page. It probably should have been in the Jan PDF for the 1x1 files.

What was behind the decision to put the resolution to day's challenge on the back of the previous day?  That is so counter initiative.  I would expect to tear off today's page, read the front, make my decision and flip for results.  Each page would resolve like a card from a board game.

My guess is that you are trying to avoid spoilers for the next day, which I can understand,  but by doing this, that is EXACTLY the result for anyone looking at (and choosing not to print) the PDF.  Page 6 in the PDF (1x1) is the resolution for page 7 of the PDF (for January).  Again, I can only assume here that you believe that everyone will want to print the PDF.  I specifically ordered the just PDF to have a fun little daily adventure, and NOT kill trees.

Pretty disappointed with the PDF layouts.

Sorry it bothers you. We had that format last year and many complained that it didn't match the layout of the printed product.

When printed, it is easier to see the page and resolution at the same time (preventing constantly flipping during combat) and does avoid revealing the next day.

We are quite busy with a lot of other things (mainly fulfillment) during this time. But I will try to make and create a new layout format of 1x1 with the pages ordered having the resolution reversed. I can't make any promises, but I will add it to my list.

I have the exact same experience.

Thanks for putting that on your radar for those of us who aren't printing!

awesome. This saves me a lot of work I had to do it manually last year. I never actually finished printing out the whole year because of it.

First off, I thoroughly enjoyed last years calendar. It was fun and great little time killer.  Please see below for my frustration with this years.

Arg. Couple months worth of sheets wasted printing.  Glad its split up by month so i didn't waste printing out a full year.  This layout might make sense if your cutting them out.  I purchased the PDF of last years and then the physical of this year but wanted an extra copy to do for this year.  To have it print out like this on  4x4 or even 2x2 sheet and then put in a binder which I assume MOST will do when doing it in that style makes it annoyingly difficult to see which page is for which. Especially because you have to look at the next or previous page for the first and last one on each front.  Please release a PDF with the same layout as last year.  Month by month or year, doesn't matter.  I will not be printing the last 10 months out.  It makes it unenjoyable if we have to search and flip for each one.  If this is not added i will likely not be purchasing next years.

We will be releasing a new version that puts the resolution after the day it references. Without that, you could still use the 1x1 format and print it. It would be in the same order as the physical copy.

This has been released now. Look for QC_2022_1x1_rev.zip

Thanks for the reply. 1x1 is not really a feasible option unless I want to print a whole bundle of paper. Like 370 sheets and use a crazy amount of ink. I thought about fixing the 4x4 myself in a PDF editor (only take about an hour or two) but decided against it because I want to experience the story with out spoilers. That’s what I’m paying for I guess in my mind. If I have to have the difficultly flipping back and forth because the dates don’t line up to the corresponding resolution day on a printed version or fixing it to work in a simpler fashion, it takes away from the enjoyment of what would be a relaxing, fun time.   Just my 2 cents from having played the first one and found it much easier to navigate when printed out 4x4 in the way provided in 2021.  Not a big ask I would hope. Thanks

You can use the 1x1 pdf but still print multiple pages (2 or 4) per sheet to save paper. You will end up with the resolution page before the page it resolves.

The additional pdf format I will release later (immediately after the custom rules are done) will be the 1x1 with the resolution page after the one it resolves.
