Ok 1st of all, just brake before you drift or just let go of the gas for a lil' bit. 2nd of all, try going on the inside. For me, works every time when going the intentional route (except for Akina) and solves the issue of getting behind when recovering if you were stuck.
These were my workarounds to these issues, but I do play on mobile so I can't relate to the handbrake
