During the Tiny Thirsty Tree quest when Flora is held by the vines, what item do you have to use for the Literate Vine? I went through all my items but not a single one worked.

Thank you so much! And another thing, during the potted weeds quest, I'm unable to plow the meddow due to my pitiful 3 strength, and I don't have the nurse's photo, is there anyway I can get more strength to progress this quest?
