(1 edit)

Ryuku ran through the forest, weaving between trees and glancing over his shoulders at his pursuers, eyes wide with terror. The redhead was one of the rarest creatures on the planet, a half-breed, the offspring of a dragon mother and a human father, the dragon king and queen. They lived in the skies and the few hundred half-breeds that that were left roamed the streets and skies avoiding hunters of any kind. The reason there were so few left was that while they had been at peace for many, many years with the human, it had recently been decided that money was worth more than peace and the medicinal value of their scales and blood was worth enough to put a bounty on them. A single half-breed could make the hunter richer than their wildest dreams.

And so Ryuku ran from the group of men with their swords and hounds.

He was doing well in his escape when suddenly, he wasn’t. He tripped and found himself suddenly jerked upwards by his ankle, hanging there upside-down. He screamed bloody murder and tried to reach up, clawing up at the ankle and the rope there.

big daddy- (ok I’ll stop) Yuka heard from his burrow and rushed out finding him

“O oh my god!”

He froze up, shaking

"quietly D-D-Don't hurt me....p-please-"

He squeezed his eyes shut, wings tucked tight behind him

he picked up a stick, hand gave it to him

“Bite down on it…I’m helping you get out of this mess, don’t worry

"Hf-"

He hesitated before doing as he said

he painfully released the trap off of his leg and picked him up

Ryuku let out a muffled scream and got extremely dizzy. After a moment to realize what was going on again, he cowered, terrifying. He trembled as he thought of his scales and wings being plucked away from him and sold, curling in on himself.

“I-I don’t know where I am…”

he spoke quickly and put a hand to his chest, trying to calm himself. His wings were ripped and had large gashes with still freshly bled. He pulled the more injured of the two in front of himself then the panic rose again as the baying of hunting dogs and the heavy thuds of footsteps came closer, heading their way.
