this comic series will be unlike anything you've ever seen before; or at least it was for me, anyway. each book is psychological, visceral, nauseatingly interesting, and unapologetic all the way through. as the reader, you are positioned to watch something really ugly unfurl.
the speech bubbles are used so effectively that you can feel the dialogue come screaming out of the page. the overall composition is constantly drawing your attention throughout the story, keeping you wrapped up in the action. the greyscale combined with splashes of bright red is a great design choice, but the full-color pages surely don't disappoint and add a whole nother dimension themselves. the characters swing violently between "kinda relatable" (maybe even someone you'd know or have been friends with) and "astonishingly horrible and scummy, Jesus Christ".
the cast should've realized they needed therapy a long time ago, but throughout each volume, they just keep hammering in that metaphorical nail. everything works in tandem to serve you up a brutal, unforgettable masterpiece. your jaw will drop once or twice at the least.
definitely do not skip out on this if it's something you can handle!
