He grabbed the passed out boy under his arms, supporting him as he swam away from the boat with him, holding him above water. His movement was hindered, struggling a bit.
He swam behind him...but was then hit by some of the cargo, he had went under water...and slowly rose back up, thrashing against the harsh water :>

He dove between falling cargo and bits of ship, arms shaking
Atlas simply sinked down under the water, wrapping around the kelp, laying on some rocks-
He managed to escape the wreckage of the ship, swimming with the boy who yes you can have wake up whenever you want
