Loved the art and music and I had a lot of fun collecting all the hats. Dashing through obstacles was a nice touch.
If I were to nitpick, I think the combo of hearts AND hats for "lives" was maybe overkill, just hats would've probably worked fine! Maybe a timer counting down would've added to the excitement a little. New game+? xD
Overall I think you people smashed it, fits the theme nicely, too.
