Game lags due to background

I am experiencing heavy lag in *some* rooms. I am nearly certain that it is due to the dynamic background: the larger is the portion of the background currently displayed, the heavier the lag is.

In the picture I uploaded I circled in red what I mean with dynamic background: it takes me around 6 seconds to walk from one blue point to the other. In the exact same room, just a bit further down, where there is no visible dynamic background, the game runs perfectly smooth.

I am playing on a gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card, which isn't turned on by AdventurOS.

Hey borto, about the performance regarding the background you are correct. We will release an extra option to disable shaders (which include what you highlighted in that screenshot) that should make it run better.

Sorry about the slow down 🙈

Great! I'm sure that'll do.
Do you know how could I possibly let the graphics card recognise AdventurOS.exe as a game? With other games it normally turns on by itself.

Hey borto, what graphics card do you have?

Intel HD 4600 integrated and Nvidia 860M dedicated.

Hey Borto sorry for the delay, I was working . I found these instructions for you, in case the update doesn't help. Even if they're not exactly right, you should be able to feel your way through! Feel free to @ me.

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Click the Manage 3D Settings link.
  • Click the Programs Settings tab.
  • Create a new profile by clicking the “Add” button, then navigate to AdventureOS.
  • Set the preferred graphics processor to your nvidia card and then click OK.

You cannot believe how much this helps me, for so many other things too. Seriously, thank you!

Pleasure to be of assistance :)

The version is up, you should see an improvement in performance. We'll see how we can bring it back without it being so heavy on the computer.

I updated and also did what Atolm suggested. It runs perfectly smooth. Thanks a lot! :)
