He struggled to control his panic. His coronation was still 9 days away, and Queen Levana was only getting worse-and who knows what she would spring on him next. But she was wrong if she thought he would become her puppet-he would defy her at every turn. He would find Princess Selene. Dr. Erland would find the antidote-and he wouldn't even dance with Levana at the stupid ball if he could help it-to hell with diplomacy. Remembering the ball parted the storm clouds in Kai's mind a bit.
Cinder was standing outside, leaning against the wall. Her mind raced, hands still shaking ever so slightly. So she was lunar? Fine. So she was a rare breed of Lunar that was immune to their powers? Sure-but then why had the queen's glamour worked on her? If it wasn't for her cyborg programming, she would've been a dazed mess like the rest of the crowd-either Dr. Erland had lied to her or he was just wrong...maybe she wasn't Lunar. Maybe he had been mistaken, and her immunity was due to something else-she let out a frustrated huff.
