All of her muscles ached from working on the car all night, but she sat up, getting off her bed with a groan and grabbing a blanket from the closet before sneaking out of the apartment.

She called a hovercar and rode over to the quarantines, little more than a large werehouse. She went inside and reeled back-the stench was unbearable, but she forced herself to go inside, looking for her sister.

She finally found Peony and sucked in a breath. Cinder wasn't sure if she would've recognized her if it wasn't for her chestnut curls draped over the pillow. Purplish blotches spread up to her arms. Her forehead glistened with sweat. Cinder gently spread the blanket over Peony, then stood, wondering if she should wake her or just let her rest.
