Old save files do not always work. If I only added options that rely on variables that existed in the old save, one can use it. If not, the new variable is never initiated, and the new content cannot be accessed. The evening event is picked at random among the elements of an array, and the latest event requires an element I only added after v 0.39.
So no, for this specific chapter (and as a rule of thumb), you can't use old saves.
