Can you give me some details about the stage this happen (like if it is a city, a frozen cave, etc)
Also, just in case, have you have a save date before getting into such stage?
After defeating a boss, the next level is selected randomly, so one solution could be load the save data before defeating the boss previous to the stage in which you found this issue.
