Nice one! I like the expressions on the player character and the one in the corner too! It does get quite chaotic in the later levels too!
My main issue with the game is that when you die, enemies do not reset position, so if you have one right next to the spawn location, you get spawned killed till game over. Music is also a little repetitive, but is fun to listen to. The Final Fantasy fanfare when you win is also a nice touch, though a little deceptive when saying you did everything yourself in your submission ;) (at least that's how I understood it)
Minus that, great game and congrats for completing your first game jam!
