Sorry I was eating dinner but basically-
Orpheus was like, a realllllyyyyyy good musician. Like-make the gods cry levels of good. So he was like, this super sweet, caring guy, and he had this girl named Eurydice who he was madly in love with. And things were good for a while, like they lived together they were happy-but then Eurydice kinda-died...she got poisoned by a snake and fell gravely ill, and he wasn't around to save her. So he came back to find her dead and was like super fucking upset cuz like-that's the love of his life right there-and he would only play sad songs-and because he was so good, everyone else felt sorrow with him, causing people around him to fall into despair. So Hermes, the messenger god, saw this and felt badly, and basically told him how to get into the Underworld. So he journeyed into the Underworld, past the monsters and the three-headed dog and the souls of the damned and everything else-to get to his lover. And he actually DID find her-except Hades found him right after. And he was not too thrilled about a living person being in his realm. So he told Orpheus that he had to leave, and Orpheus pleaded with him to let her go. And Persephone actually felt kinda badly for the two of them, and basically convinced Hades to let them go. So he did, with the condition that while she was being lead out of the underworld, Orpheus couldn't look at Eurydice. He couldn't look behind her to see if she was actually there, he just had to trust that she was. And in the original myth, he actually breaks down and looks, and she has to go back and he has to leave, but like that's sad so we ain't doing that. Also I have Persephone now:
