I cannot get this to run on Mac.. an older version worked but that was several months ago. I usually have to right click > open twice but this time nothing happens. Usually I also have to run the .rpy file but there isn't one in the folder.

Open terminal. Paste (with a space at the end): xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Drag the app onto the terminal, so you get something like xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Users/<username>/Games/BadMemories/Bad-Memories.app
Run that command. The app should now open properly every time without needing to locate and run the internal executable.
Please note that I don't have a mac myself, all of the above is gathered from comments of other people who played the game on mac.

Just finished the newest update! Yeah, I can safely say I still love this game! I was very happy to see things move along with Rachel, Ellie is still a pure cutie and Jada is as naughty as ever! some odd turns but every story needs them.
love the special renders as well, so well thought out and in my opinion very detailed. shows alot of passion! I was sifting through the renders and just realized who Em and Jess were haha. and I think I know who "Precious" is wink wink. confident in my guess but still 50/50 between if Im right or wrong lol.

Is there any voice acting in Bad Memories?? I watched a couple of videos of people playing the first few minutes and I didn't hear any, but thought maybe they were playing an older version? I assume its either that or simply the Steam store page is incorrect? Thanks in advance, heard good things about the title and the character modeling looks nicely done, I just wanted to ask about the voice overs/acting before purchasing.
No, there is no voice acting, but steam recommended to add it if in any case there will be VA in the future, and since I'm thinking about it for a while, I added it to the steam page.
Right on, the character design looks pretty well done, so definitely looking forward to giving it a shot, and would love to see VA in a future update.. Not trying to name drop another title, but I plaid Lust Theory when it was released which has it (I actually think they just hired two women to do all of it but it actually works seeing as you're never hearing them talk at the same time) but it really added to the story immersion.
I think if you add VA, it's vital that it be high quality. I'm sure we're all familiar with, for example, anime dubs where the voice acting just doesn't fit and spoils the show.
I hopped here to check for an update and was not disappointed. I will say with the change to paid, a demo version would do well for promotion. This game is fantastic and if I had anything to spare right now would definitely buy it in a heartbeat.

If you donated more than $1 USD before the price change, then in your "my collections" page, at the top there is an area showing games that you own. There is a download link there.
If you did not donate at least $1 USD before the price change, then you sadly don't "own" the game because you didn't pay for it, and will need to pay the $8.99 price to gain access to the new updates.
having the game via free download is not the same as having the game after donating for the download. let me clarify this a bit more, and i apologize in advance if something i say comes across in an offensive manner.
downloading the game via the "free download" option doesn't mean you own the game, it means that you have downloaded it as "freeware". downloading the game after donating the minimum amount set for the "purchase" of the game means that you now own a copy, as you technically paid for it.
sadly this was not made very clear in the update titled "Update News and Future Pricing" due to the fact that the creator was not entirely sure how itch.io handled things when it came to price changes. BM_Rec was not entirely sure about the effects of the price change, as evidenced by one of his replies to a previous comment. this is a direct quote from BM_Rec that you can find below if you feel like looking for it.

Just out of curiosity though, how many updates do you think you'll be able to fit into the game, with your current thoughts on the work? Also, personally i have taken quiet the liking to catherine and i was really wondering if you intend to build much more on her as a person in the story.
Doesn't matter how long it takes for the updates to me since i fill my time as needed, but i am looking forward to your work! High quality isn't always good work, but yours is 5/5 :)
I'd say the story is about 2/3 done by now, so two more updates is the absolute minimum + Rachels story, but it's more likely that the next updates are a bit smaller since the work on the last one was hell and I don't want to go through that again, so it'll probably be about 3 - 5 smaller updates.
Glad to say i purchased it and have enjoyed the new scenes very much. The scenes with Rachel are excellent, hanna is wonderfully done and i enjoy seeing more of kat in both meaning of it.
I shall await patiently for any further updates, ill also go ahead and give Weird a shot too!

First of all, you can download all version, not only the android version, so if you have a computer or tablet you could try that. Second, and more importantly "can't open the file" is not really anything I've seen on an android. "Can't install", yes, that usually happens when there's not enough (temporary) space to unpack/install the apk, you usually need 3-4 times as much space as the .apk file size, but I think 5gb is the minimum. Again, this is just for unpacking/installing, the game itself doesn't need that much space. You also need to enable "install from unknown sources", otherwise it just won't let you install the game.
Yes I am aware of all that. Firat of all, I don't have a tablet or PC to put it on. second of all, I am well aware of how it works when you don't have space, as you said it gives you an error while trying to install the file and I dont think my 79gb of free space is an issue. Third of all, I have 3rd party install turned on as I have downloaded numerous games from itch without issue, all apk's (including one just 6 days prior). So I guess to answer my question, yes I am just out 9 bucks.

I double checked this myself by making another account and adding the game to my collection but not donating for it, and that account does not have the download button on the collection page, but this account (which I did donate on) does.

Don't mind supporting devs where it is due, but as someone on a fixed income due to a chronic disability 5-10 dollars is actually a lot to spend on something that isn't neccesary.
Devs that lock their content behind a paywall really irk me. Either make it pay to play, or do a delayed release for non patreon members, but making it impossible to obtain the rest of the story without paying is a low and dirty move.

If you had been keeping up with news and announcements, it was made clear that he was going to go to a fixed price because of Steam connections. He also made it clear that if you bought it beforehand (for as little as $1 USD I might add), then you could always download the newest version here with no additional fee. I have a tight budget as well, and decided that access to a great WIP game like this one was worth at least contributing a small amount to the dev. For less than the cost of one soda, I have access to the newest releases, and I appreciate the fact that the dev was even willing to let people play it for free in the first place.

If you only added it to your collections, there is no download button shown on your collections page. If you paid for the game at all, there is a download button on collections page, which is how you get the newest version without having to pay again.

So I've been playing this almost every update and I downloaded the update before the price change but now I can't download the game

looks like you used an incompatible save-file. I'd start a new game if it keeps happening with other saves as well.

It should be a one time purchase unless the dev decides to hike up the price for whatever reason. Once you own it, it'll be linked to your account.

I haven't tested it, but the game makes several autosaves, so there should be at least one that you can use.

If you have some old save files, try deleting them. If you use an older android version: update your android version...

I double checked this myself by making another account and adding the game to my collection but not donating for it, and that account does not have the download button on the collection page, but this account (which I did donate on) does.
Just bought it, I was about to do so before you talked about the problems you had with steam.
I love what I have seen so far, and I am sure that the final version will be even better.

Don't mind supporting devs where it is due, but as someone on a fixed income due to a chronic disability 5-10 dollars is actually a lot to spend on something that isn't neccesary.
Devs that lock their content behind a paywall really irk me. Either make it pay to play, or do a delayed release for non patreon members, but making it impossible to obtain the rest of the story without paying is a low and dirty move.
I may be wrong, i may just not see it somewhere, so correct me if I am wrong, but that is exactly what is seems like is going on here.
You know what irks me? People who complain and outright insult others while not even having the decency to read the news right above their post, news that are available there for more than 2 months for anyone to read. Even reading some of the posts here would have propably enlightened you.

If you had been keeping up with news and announcements, it was made clear that he was going to go to a fixed price because of Steam connections. He also made it clear that if you bought it beforehand (for as little as $1 USD I might add), then you could always download the newest version here with no additional fee. I have a tight budget as well, and decided that access to a great WIP game like this one was worth at least contributing a small amount to the dev. For less than the cost of one soda, I have access to the newest releases, and I appreciate the fact that the dev was even willing to let people play it for free in the first place.

Hey dev. Got the game while it was still free. Do i need to pay for the game now if i want the updates ? I know the update post said they'd be free, but I can't see an option to update.
The updates will still be free, but what I said was that I'm not sure how this works on itch and if you wanted to make sure that you keep getting the updates for free it's best to buy the game as long as you can choose the price yourself.
I'm still not a 100% sure tbh, but I guess if you can't download the update you'll have to buy the game.
If you only added it to your collections, there is no download button shown on your collections page. If you paid for the game at all, there is a download button on collections page, which is how you get the newest version without having to pay again.

If you buy it on Steam then it's for Steam only, if you buy it here it's for here only. Right now Steam has a bit more story, but the next update will make them the same.
You buy it on Steam, you get it for Steam. You buy it on Itch, you get it for Itch.
Right now you can still buy the Itch version for 1 buck, the Steam version is $8,99, so I'd grab the Itch version as long as it's possible.
