Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. From all outwardly appearances she had the perfect life-a grand castle, private lessons, and more servants than she could ever need-she was a model royal, loved by all citizens and dutiful to the kingdom before all else. What no one knew was that the princess harbored a secret-she was in love with a witch. Magic had been outlawed in the kingdom, under penalty of death, but the young witch had managed to maintain secrecy by living on the outskirts of the village in a small cottage and selling simple cures and remedies in town-things that worked well but could be past off as medicine. The princess snuck out whenever she could to visit her lover, and the two managed their forbidden relationship for many years-until it was announced that the princess would be engaged to the prince of a neighboring kingdom-with no room for escaping.)
