He could get a closer look at him now. He was curled up in a ball at the back of the cage, ears pressed flat against his head and tail drooped, trembling as he stared wide eyed up at him
Dalton whispered "safe"
He whimpered
"N-No...s-stay away..."
Dalton whispered "I'm not going to hurt you I promise'
"L-Leave me alone..."
"Don't worry . . .I won't let anything hurt you again"
"quietly I-I just...want to go home..."
"I know . . . You can go home . . . You all will . . ."

He looked up at him and slowly crawled out of the cage
