SPOILERS, PROBABLY

That was a swerve! They did mention the grandfather's old equipment and the MC's chemistry background, which I assumed would translate into some kind of miraculous new fertilizer or something, but then the abrupt genre-switch happened; excellent red herring! I'm not sure if it was intended to be something of a black comedy, but that's what it turned into for me due to the juxtaposition of the standard "small town slice-of-life VN" artwork and music with the actual plot and events. I enjoyed how it played with my expectations: In a typical farming game, no-one remarks on how unrealistic the save-the-farm solutions are, whereas the moment when reality hits Eli and the MC signals the start of the genre-shift.

There's a deconstruction of the small Japanese seaside town, which is usually the setting for farming/slice-of-life VNs, by way of actual small-town life, at least in the US: Limited jobs and stores, heavy dependence on tourists for tourist towns and the subsequent fallout from that, drug use and trade. Not sure it 100% worked for me, but it did work pretty well. I guessed Lyra's job almost as soon as the MC decided to start cooking, but that didn't detract from the overall plot or game. Incidentally, in my playthough, I chose not to shoot Lyra or Eli and kept the MC from committing suicide, which seemed in line with his earlier dialogue with Lyra; the ending, however, felt somewhat underwhelming, and now I'm wondering if there's a "True Ending" following a different set of choices.

Overall, a well-made game with unexpected chemistry and more explosions than the cutesy title screen would lead you to believe. Good work!
