She hands him a ceremonial spear

She sighs
"Calix. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner the plague on our kingdom ends. Don't you want the suffering to end...?"

She looks him dead in the eye
"Go."
She smiles

Before he knows it, he's climbing down the stairs to the dungeon with the spear in his hands
