How does the "Steam" part of the prize work?

Is the game being sold on Steam, or put there as a free game?  If it's sold, does the developer get the revenue?

Hey there and thanks for asking. The contest winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) will have their game posted for free on Steam (and the RPGMakerWeb site) as a free game. While the winning developers can expand their own version for commercial use (Steam or otherwise), the game that was created for and placed in the contest will always be free.

I think the whole theme of this game jam works against this idea.  They're obviously looking for games that push the engine, and defy the stereotypes regarding the engine.

Let's refrain from attack-language. While there are indeed games created in this engine that are obviously of low-quality, that is true of every game engine in existence. A cursory glance on Steam would reveal as much.

The point of this Game Jam is for each developer to create the very best possible game that they can while using RPG Maker MZ... to stretch their abilities beyond their normal limits. The judges will decide which of those games are the "best of the best", and they will be published on Steam.

It is exceedingly unfair to accuse the judges, as well as Komodo, from publishing "garbage", as if to insinuate that (1) a game using default assets is automatically trash, or (2) that the judges (each who are highly qualified in this engine) would be lackadaisical in their decisions.

Instead, let's all focus on making the best games that we can make.

If I may pitch in on this, the default assets can be beautiful if put enough effort and care into it. Use lighting effects, tint the screen, add some pretty picture FX. Use plugins to change up your menu screen, use plugins to change your battle system, etc. You don’t need fully custom assets to make a game beautiful. Even stuff created with the generator can work really well. It is true that default assets are typically frowned upon. However, if done right you can make them look amazing! So for anyone reading this that is making a game with default assets, keep doing it!! As long as you put your heart and soul into making your game, that’s all that matters. It’s hard to make a game. And it’s even harder to make one in just a month’s span so be proud of yourself for finishing one at least.

Yep! You get it! :D

Before defining the winner we can't put our names in the game, but once it's done(if it wins) and goes to Steam or elsewhere, are we going to change something or there's no need?

Hey there and thanks for posting. I'm not sure that I understand what you mean.  You can attach your username to your project right now.

Can you please clarify?

Can I put my name at the end of the game in the end credits or don't need to?

Sure! Go for it. :-)
