To go to the wasteland you need to take the north exit of the cave complex and the the north exit of the troglodytes lair

You have to unlock the Cave to see it on the map. You must complete the Mediation between Krog and Everett then go home and talk to Krog, he will "show you" on the map and then you can go explore the cave complex. The South entrance is one of many you will discover.
