ok-they were teenagers at this point. This was one of those brief moments when the two weren't together-Dmitri had gone off to do something stupid, the usual-he had been really vague about it, telling Xen he couldn't come-not uncommon, since Dmitri never let Xen in on his wilder plans-and since he'd never gotten caught, Xen didn't worry too much. He had been sitting under their tree reading...and that's when he heard the screams.
