Question about perception and quests

I’m wondering if there are ways to increase perception aside from memory lane perks as well as whether or not there are perception checks early in the game like in the ToB. Also I remember that certain classes and their own built in perks ie rogues had more estrogen and magus came with insanity, is that still the same and do they also have new built in perks like deception and such? Sorry if it’s a stupid question.

Also I did a more thorough play through and the quest log and quests have been a bit iffy. For instance, the hunters in the inn in ToB, after a bit of interacting I had the choice to tell them to stop hunting and apparently it was for a magus in some town I’ve never been to? As well as certain checkpoints in quests being stuck at 0/1 or returning to 0/1 after they were completed, like when I talked to the grave guy in dragon tooth and then went into the pub in the sewers and it said I had to talk to him again, though I’m not sure if I’m doing that quest right. There’s also a tiny bug where if you decide to forego killing illfang in favor of killing ngambe first and then head over to black cry and recruit Hana, then return to ToB it will basically make it so you did kill illfang ie guards at the mines and cutscene in the castle.

And one final thing just to sate my curiosity but is it possible for us to work for the artist at any point? And if so will accruing insanity points early help us? Or will we automatically be aligned with the mother. The artist just is so cool compared to her. Anyway, aside from the occasional tiny bug here and there this game is always a delight to play after every major update and I’m so impressed with its progress, keep up the good work :)

I'm almost certain in one of the instances you meet her, Karuzel has a +1 perception potion, and I'm also certain (though I can't remember  where) that you can earn another +1 perception potion through another quest. Yes, classes still have certain starting bonuses, but they haven't been updated in a while, so the new stats like deception are not taken into account.

The hunters quest just refuses to properly work in the quest log script, it's annoying for me too, been an issue for a year now. (to be clear, the quest log is just an attempted visual representation of the quest states, it is NOT indignant of the actual quest. Most of the time that doesn't matter at all, but for the hunters case where I just can't get it to work, keep in mind that you "are" actually progressing the quest for each of them, it just doesn't show properly on the quest log). The knighting cutscene bug will be fixed, it's a relatively simple switch, thanks for reminding me.

The game already has a variable counting the artist's favor depending on player actions, but I have not yet used it in any way. I definitely will at some point in the future. In all likeliness choosing to work for the Artist will decrease Mother's respective favor.
