Look up "Helpful Fox Senko." It's roughly the same premise, either that anime or "Spice and Wolf." But, do agree there is definitely a spot in the anime community for this plot.
"Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" falls into the same genre too so you can check that out if you enjoy this genre's tropes and general vibe.
