Because, for now. There's no major event or path that is unlocked or locked due to your choices. The choices, for now, are straightfoward. You can choose the girls you get involved with and they change some scenes and dialogues adding flavor. For now no choice will lock any path (It can increase or decrease the chances of achieving it) But all of them are being saved and will be used later.
