He grabs an older looking book and opens it, blowing off the dust.
Vincent: Ok...
He starts flipping through it, leaning against his desk
Vincent: So tell me a bit about the shards...

Vincent: Ok...it says here that when a shardkeeper finds the person that they want to spend the rest of their life with, a new shard forms in their blood, eventually convalescing in their wrist...however, should the object of their affection reject them, the shard will break down in their bodies, causing choking, clotting, and eventually...death...
