Love the game! The one criticism I have is that the player feels disconnected from the world. A couple ways to remedy this would be:
- Increase the line shader thickness to match the line weight of the character (maybe only a little thinner to keep it in the background)
- The animations currently feel a little clunky, If you look closely at paper Mario you'll notice that the character animations have few frames, but the sprites themselves are moved smoothly. Stretching, squshing, and rotating the player sprite are great ways to make the character animations smoother while still maintaining that funky paper Mario look.
- Give the player a shadow to attach them to the ground and help with judging jump height.
- Raise the camera angle so its easier to see where you are jumping to.
Hope this helps!
