A nice game! Love the background art. Was a lovely twist, as IanGoGo said, to have the elements modify the player rather than just kill you. If you want some constructive criticism, I'd say that the most immersion-breaking feature is the teleport upwards when you fall. Maybe you could limit the camera movement vertically and teleport the player to the top of the screen once he moves out of view, or something? :)
