I do that too. For me it's an anxiety thing. Is there anything making you stressed? I have a coping mechanism that helps me a lot when I'm anxious.

yeah, so you look around the space around you and you say 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste(usually it's just air but...) I know it sounds kinda weird, but it's a grounding technique. It's actually really helpful.
