Skin Deep is a supplement pack for Monsterhearts 2, primarily focusing on a set of new skins.
It's 30 pages long, with great layout and snazzy art.
Content-wise, the Bakeneko skin feels a little bland (most of their kit orbits around being aloof and critical of others,) and the Prometheus sort of turns into the Jigsaw Killer when they darkest self, but the Bedlam is ridiculously flavorful and charges straight into trouble in a way that somehow outdoes the MH 1 Mortal.
Other standouts include the Devil (a bargain-broker who calls everything in when they Darkest Self,) the Dragon (who gets exp if other people brag about having hooked up with him,) and the Leshy (aquaman who can hold court with a bunch of abandoned television sets, and fighting him involves trying to cram a pair of shoes onto his feet.)
Also included in the book are a few sample settings. They run a nice spectrum from mundane mortal politics to high-octane supernatural pulp, with Lodestone standing out as an intense (and extremely compact) mini-campaign. To go with this are some rules about mitigating unplanned mortality in high-conflict games.
Overall, I think Skin Deep is a ton of value for a Monsterhearts group. The new skins are solid, everything is easy to use, and there's a lot of great flavor.
Minor Issues:
-Devil's Gift Horse is *really* easy to trigger, and theoretically spammable. This is less a concern in MH than other systems, but it still stood out.
-Page 15, Heart Of Gold, "string" isn't capitalized
