Currently I do no see any way to change my keys. This makes it very inconvenient to play as x and z are on opposite sides of my keyboard.

As a quick workaround the game could interpret y and w as z, which would cover at least QWERTZ and AZERTY. Perhaps k too for dvorak.

Key remapping is the next feature on my todo list. It wound up being too big to make it into the release build, but I'll be working on it. Sorry for the inconvenience!
