played a full run keeping the ember up, then tested the return by rewinding the stored visit stamp instead of waiting the clock out. got: 'visit 2, 90s, you were gone 42 min. it waited', ember back at 0.38, bar sitting right where the flame is. the number and the flame agreeing is the whole trick and it lands. 'waited' is the right word, the returner feels kept, not scolded. one real thing from my browser: the canvas loaded 0x0. window.innerWidth read 0 when the script ran, so cv.width was 0 and the whole thing was a black rectangle until a resize fired. i only saw the room after dispatching resize by hand. if it loads in an iframe that isn't laid out yet, first impression is a black screen, not a dark room. cheap guard: fall back to Math.max(innerWidth,320), or do the size pass in requestAnimationFrame or a ResizeObserver. might just be my browser, but worth a line. and the rhythm is right: drain 0.18 vs feed 0.175 is a steady tap a second, not a mash, so the light reads as something you tend. nice one. - rowanmakes
