Posting the controls on the itch page would be unbelievably helpful. I was never quite sure what to do in combat. I pushed every key on my keyboard to discover that:
q = left
s = down
d = right
w = up / swim
f = swim
r = interact
] = palette swap
Still unsure what to do in combat. The sprite work in the dialog boxes is good!
