Hi!

Let me first start off by stating that I'm actively involved in the PortMaster community over at https://portmaster.games/. We build older game titles out into ports that are accessible for play on handheld gaming devices. We do this for fun -- not for monetary compensation of any kind.

I happened to stumble upon your Pacewar game title when I was researching various game engines, of which yours is associated with SGE (https://python-sge.github.io/games.html). The dependencies were fairly simple to harness (most are already present in a smaller Linux environment) and I built a version of it from your source code as a port. No modifications or anything just a straight game port -- your experience offered is precisely the one given.

Per your licensing associated with the game title, I'd more or less be free to distribute it without breathing a word about it... but I think that would be unfair to you as developers. Yes the game is simplistic in its design and overall scope of play, but it does work particularly well on handhelds. Not to mention that I do believe sending some attention your way to let you know there's an interest in games in general like yours. This can garner some community attention from PortMaster and the retro gaming community in general -- and I figure that would be worth something to you on a holistic level. Proper credit will be given to you as the developers in any event because I'm a supporter of game devs!

Anyways, I know it's been five years since comments were left concerning Pacewar but I just wanted to drop by and give you a big thumbs up on your work! It's nicely put together and (curiously) presents a bit of a challenge with its combat/gameplay, which is very pleasant indeed! That extra attention to detail is not always found in games like this, so definitely a nice job on adding that in!

Hope you have a very blessed day and maybe we'll see you over on PortMaster's Discord at some point. Thanks again for making a great game and for being in the biz of making them!

Edit:
I should note that I've ported this game in development only currently. I haven't released it publicly yet.

Thanks! It’s an old and pretty much abandoned game project (as is SGE), but I’m glad to hear you like it enough to do this work.
