I think a lot of people are going to quit game development in the next few years. There are many new first time devs due to all the AI tools, but they do not have the real depth of understanding of what video games are. So... people who do stick with it through this period will likely be rewarded once the herd thins out.

But definitely take your time, we're in a worldwide overabundance and under-appreciation phase. Build art that only you can build, that will always have infinite value.
Well said. From discussions I've had about video games (and the same can be applied to most media), the big studios seem to lack heart most of the time, made for the sake of "what the chart says". Not sure about the AI tools, but I would imagine they'd have problems of their own.
I don't imagine video games would go away, especially since there's a lot of potential for what can be done right. I think video games have potential as a good medium for storytelling.
