wow this place is mesmerizing
I have a very different strategy as a solo dev. I release them as prototypes to get feedback before making decisions on whether I want to make it a standalone or combine it with another game or prototype. This one is a part of a massive game but its still new and I allowed it to be standalone for itch so it can be tested without making people find it in the main release. The prototype lab is like a game that contains dozens of games, the number changes all the time, I get a new idea, make it into a prototype, and see where it should go from there. Even the smallest prototypes can be tested by players, it brings everyone on the dev's journey to see what goes on behind the scenes as its being created.
understood, sounds like a cozy feedback loop. i could imagine the scope not being so solo dev friendly for your full releases cause your projects ive seen are insane work lol i am super new to game dev but ultimately i also want to get better at system architecture, simulation/ sandbox games are always my favourite and i wanna be able to not be frustrated and just pump them out for fun like you one day lol. i find you very inspiring
