It is curious you mention The Twisted Man as a villain theme, because there was a moment during lore creation when I thought I really could have had the character turn into one, so instead of having him reach to a more positive outcome, he would actually get more and more tormented. But in the end, I think, even though he doesn't really have a happy ending, he still managed to learn something from his Voyage, slowly put his past aside during Whispers, and finally remember who he was in the end, as represented by the reprised entry theme.
