Hello,

Thank you for your work on Orbis Basic.

I tested version 6 on an emulator, and it’s really great.

I’d like to bring up three points:

1/ I can compile successfully on Linux/Ubuntu, but not on Windows.

2/ When I test a program on actual hardware with official everdrive, the controller doesn't work.

3/ If I purchase the paid version, will I have access to all future updates? Or will I have to pay each time?

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your feedback and for taking the time to test Orbis Basic. I’m very glad to hear that you’re enjoying it!

Regarding your questions:

Yes, all future updates are free and will remain free for customers who purchase either the Full or Builder version. There is no need to pay again for future updates.

Regarding the Windows compilation and controller issues, could you please upgrade to the latest version and try again? v7 versions contain several bug fixes related to these areas.

If you still experience any issues after updating, I’d be very happy to investigate further. Could you please share a few more details about your configuration?

In particular, for the controller issue:

  • Are you using a 3-button or 6-button controller?
  • Which EverDrive model and console/revision are you testing with?

For the Windows compilation issue, any additional information about your Windows version and error message would also be very helpful.

Update: I was able to verify the controller issue.

The problem was traced to a bug in the v6 controller polling loop, which could prevent controller input from being updated correctly after startup. This issue has already been fixed in v7.0.3.

If you are still using a v6 release, please upgrade to v7.0.3 or newer before testing on real hardware.

Many thanks for the report!
