Thanks for your reply! In my experience I don't think there should be anything else besides the filesystem behavior, but I'm not completely certain if there ain't more to it. As of now changing the default folder yields the same result as the whole filesystem is essentially a filesystem link (afaik). It worked flawlessly on Debian in the meanwhile.

I spent some time looking it up and everything, and that does seem to be what I'm seeing. I also found out that there are some other distros having issues for other reasons, like Alpine. I have put in a fix for the immutable issue, but I plan on grabbing every major distro to test against instead of just Debian, like I've been doing. I have been working on some other changes, which I also need to test against and whatnot, so I'm hoping to get this new release out before the end of Monday.
