I have the same exact error. For OP: don't fear! You aren't supposed to click that option for the event to trigger, you have just to be at the right moment of the story and go there. Other screens that gives the same exact error: ALL gifts for girls the moment you hover the mouse over them, ALL the options that has to do with "organizing" them in some way, like training.
