Hey, this is Thistle's Path from Reddit. Sorry to message here but I woke up to a short-term suspension. I got the game working; weirdly, I had to run it in admin mode to get it to work but it did end up working.
Getting into it, the first immediate error I realized is that the character walking left loses their clothes and hair. A simple enough fix but one that jumped out. The next was that, weirdly, after a certain point, no matter which monster I selected, they all came out as... I think it's called Terradon? The little yellow dude? I think that's the one that I picked first and he popped out anyway but eventually both user and opponent monsters would only come out as that until end of match, no matter how many times I tried. I did two separate battles in which this same thing occurred with the same monster.
I love the animation, I love the almost Sonic-esque checkerboard landscape and both the music and sound effects are top notch. Everything looks super clean and you've obviously got a solid foundation for the overworld that can only improve. I would definitely play this once it's expanded upon. It's pretty much right up my alley in that respect. I'd be very interested in seeing expansion of things like multiplayer battles.
It's definitely a great foundation though and one I look forward to playing more of.

Hey thanks for testing it! So the running isnt an error I just havent sprited the rest of the poses lol.
And as for why you see Terradon with other monsters. Some of them have placeholder sprites but a majority do not. Terradon and 2 other monsters are the only ones with finished animation. I wanted to test the combat before I jumped into animating more characters.
Thank you! The checkerboard is just a placeholder for now. I want to replace it with grass and other things later. Im def excited to expand on this, multiplayer probably wont be a thing on account of me working solo.
