That is what we were going for! Thanks for the comment.
When we started this game I was like "How do we get the vibes of those big games in a short amount of time?!". So we sort of squished all the stuff you can do during a HOMM3 game, and then added an auto-battler similar to Warlords to save on time. Then we sort of stuck the buttons where you might expect them on a really streamlined game like Polytopia.
It all sounds sort of simple when you say it, but the real challenges are where to add complexity back into the game, to add depth to the systems and make progression feel more meaningful. All this while trying to keep the cognitive load in a comfortable place for the player. So, things like the fairly simple combat system from Warlords become quite complex, with wounds, abilities and spells, etc.
We got a big hero and tavern system coming out soon, and that adds a lot to the game. Plus, we still have a spell system to look forward to. So, we are hoping our simple little game is solid enough to hold these more complex features.
Thanks again for your comment and I hope to hear from you again after heroes have arrived!
