I don't like it either. I used white flash to properly see the effect and test if it would work. I would probably use a small shake.
But I'm what other instances have you seen the black and white flashscreens?

Thousands, if not tens, or perhaps even hundreds of thousands of black screens still appear on the screen constantly during dialogue, transitions between locations, and various camera angles. I’ve already seen dozens of them after replaying the game’s opening (about 30 minutes). Of course, there haven’t been any white screens yet, since the relationship section is at the very bottom, but there are plenty of them later, mess.
