Fun game! I love the aesthetic, the bright colours and engaging visuals. I started playing with zero hiragana knowledge and started to pick up a bit, though I have a few thoughts about ideas to possibly enhance the learning experience.
At times I struggled with the sound examples because the chaining merges meant the SFX triggered too fast for me to process before the next one. I think for me it would be super helpful if the sound of each character was played when you drop it, so I have time to look at the character and know exactly what I'm hearing.
My other challenge with the sound examples was the example words. う was confusing at first because the example word doesn't start with the sound. Also some example words like onigiri and pencil have a lot of syllables which I, as the learner, found went by too fast and made it difficult to focus on the 1 sound out 4 that was actually represented. I wonder if the dropping and merging could just use the pure sound of each character (I, A, etc) and the words could instead be used for the level up quiz (maybe you could provide a word with romanization but one missing hiragana, and you have to click the correct hiragana from a list? )
