About the dream theme, we actually approached it in a less traditional way.
The game takes place during the moment of falling asleep, when the character is entering a dream. Instead of simply showing a traditional dream world, we wanted to represent the dream as a battle happening inside his own mind between his consciousness and the part of him that wants to keep sleeping.
That's also why we use the line:
"Still time?! That's not reality. It's just a dream."
The idea is that inside a dream, time and reality don't necessarily behave the way we expect. What feels like "still having time" can simply be part of the dream, while reality is actually moving forward.
We wanted the theme of "Dreams" to be represented through the concept and gameplay itself, rather than using the traditional approach of simply making the whole world look like a dream.
And about the difficulty: the game is designed around managing the different lanes and deciding where and when to deploy each alarm, so the challenge comes from balancing your resources and protecting your progress.
