Was really happy to see another TYVNJ2 entry with mahjong. This works as a great introduction to the game, baked into a neat little story about two people who just can't stand each other. Tightly-scoped and compact, it feels very complete. It's really polished in its direction with the visuals and music forming a unique style.
I like how the game relates to the characters' situations, which is what I love about sports fiction. Sometimes the game... is life?? I wanted to talk more but I haven't figured out how to discuss spoilers in itch.io comments, oops
some random thoughts:
- I believe that Izzy's wearing a Dark Angels shirt (I recognize the sigil, and the particular shade of green checks out), I know what you are~
- This is all me, but I realize that while I got into mahjong because of Saki the anime, I still have not played a game of Filipino mahjong, wah...
- the characters' smug expressions are really good... the game isn't voiced but it almost feels like I could hear them bicker in my head
